This is the
time again to celebrate the resurrection
of our Lord, Jesus Christ. As Christians,
we all know that the Gospel of today would
not survive without the resurrection of
Christ. For so many brothers and sisters
prefer to be executed or crucified instead
of denying their firm belief in the risen
Lord.
So on
Sunday April 12, The Redemption Young
Adult Choir will present its annual Easter
concert at 7:00 Pm. The title this night’s
concert comes from Colossians 3:15-16:
“Let the peace of Christ rule in your
hearts…let the word of Christ dwell in you
richly… as you sing psalms and hymns and
spiritual songs with gratitude in your
hearts to God.” As we will worship the
Lord with some of the songs from renowned
contemporary gospel artists like Hezekiah
Walker, Byron Cage and some lesser known
composers, the program will end with a
special performance of “The Battle of
Jericho” by Moses Hogan. Among the most
profound gifts to American music and
Christian faith are the spirituals that
grew directly out of African slaves’
experience in the “New World”, including
songs in post-slavery history that
continued directly in that musical
tradition, and continue still today.
It is our hope that the
words in these songs will “dwell in you
richly”.
The concert is free and
open to the public. Please, come and join
us in praising God for who He is.
